BekkoBekko are an esoteric variety of Koi. They are sometimes described jokingly as Sanke that have lost their hi - so when choosing a Sanke try and pick one that has a good bekko sumi pattern!
A bekko is white Koi with Sanke type sumi markings - in other words globular sumi as opposed to stripey sumi (as in Shiro Utsuri and Showa). A good bekko will always have an excellent white skin.
Bekko
This is an example of an excellent female Bekko we found in Japan for a customer. Note the super white and the sumi patterning - almost picture perfect for Bekko. This Koi is a little skinny in the picture but is already blossoming out. The super clear head is important, as are the excellent pectoral fins in which we can see the start of classic Sanke type striations of sumi. This is an awesome fish in every respect.
